Breathing heavily and sweating lightly, Amaata dismounted and leaned gently against Kuroth as she stroked his side. She could, given a moment's pause, feel Bright snoozing back in her room; mostly at the moment the little flit just ate and slept with very little variation in activity, but she supposed that was to be expected when he was just days old.

The shadow of wings caught her attention and Amaata looked over to see A'lek; the bright-eyed young woman quickly turned her attention back to Kuroth and she busied herself with taking off Kuroth's gear. She'd been nursing a crush on the brownrider for a year now, and it was never anything but awkward for her.

Taking a deep breath at Kuroth's wordless urging, Amaata turned slightly back towards the other weyrling. "Hi. Did you have fun on the drills?"

Drills were done for the day, at last. Not a moment too soon - the leathers were useful in the air, especially when fighting thread but Faranth if they weren't hot. Isaroth landed, crooning a greeting to Kuroth as they landed nearby, A'lek immediately stripped off her helmet to reveal wild hair pulled up into a mohawk on top of her head, before stripping off her jacket - both were tossed on the ground.

Much like Amaata, her attention turned to getting Isaroth's harnesses off of him. She and the other weyrling rarely talked - she generally assumed that it was because Amaata wasn't fond of her, though for the life of her she couldn't figure out why.

So it was a touch surprising to A'lek when Amaata was the first to speak. Turning, she offered her a smile. "I mean, as fun as drilling ever is." But it was part of their job, and one that she and Isaroth both took very seriously. "But I think we did well." Most of the class was doing well as they grew more and more comfortable. They didn't have much time before the next class and then they were done for the day. She wanted to wash the sweat off of her, but that could wait she supposed. "How did you and Kuroth do?"

Finger combing her hair as she removed her helmet, Amaata smiled awkwardly at A'lek. Personally, she loved drilling, but then she loved everything that involved being on Kuroth's back.

Continuing to get Kuroth stripped down from their hard work, the bluerider awkwardly tried to continue the conversation. Her normal reaction to A'lek was to clam up and try not to look too long, but she was starting to belatedly get used to the idea that people might not hate her for her preferences. She still wished she could be normal, but she had no desire to even kiss a boy much less see one naked somewhere other than in the bath.

"I think we did well," she said, her eyes on a strap instead of on the woman she was talking to. They were getting closer and closer to graduation, and as a result being treated more and more like adults instead of weyrlings. They were expected to know how to care for their dragons on their own by now. "You looked like you did. When I had a moment to breathe, anyway."

A'lek laughed lightly. "That's the key though isn't it? Getting enough time to breathe. You and Kuroth looked good out there." She offered Amaata a smile, holding Isaroth's straps in one hand as the brown launched off to find a place to sun. She watched him for a moment before turning to the other woman and her blue. Kuroth really was a handsome blue. And she didn't know Amaata near as well as she should've, considering they were classmates.

"Hey, I know we have class here shortly," after all, they still had some lessons in the classroom to finish before they were done for the day "but do you want to grab dinner after? I could use some company for dinner." Isaroth sent her warm approval, liking that his rider was stepping a little out of her comfort zone, a little outside of her 'usual' group.
