Summary of Important Events (timeline)
These events would be well known around the weyr unless indicated otherwise. Events in Turn 508 and 509, while relevant to Sirocco Weyr, happen before Sirocco's founding
The Early Turns (Turn 480 - Turn 580)
Yammenth, gold dragon at Fort Weyr, laid a gold egg. At the hatching the pale, sickly appearing queen Iridith impressed to the drudge Deinah over far preferred candidates. Deinah never found favour with Gorinna, senior weyrwoman, or any of the men who took the position of weyrleader over the turns. When Iridith rose for the first time and mated with the brown dragon Suth Deinah was accused of deliberately encouraging her dragon to do so, threatening the future of the weyr.
Iridith rose infrequently and consistently produced small clutches that rarely hatched anything larger than a brown. She was not taken into the confidence of Weyrwoman Gorinna and largely left to her own devices. Things came to a head when Iridith laid her first gold egg late in Turn 508, when finger rock and star stone worked together to indicate the start of the 3rd pass.
The Start of Threadfall, Zodiac Clutch (Turn 508-509)
Iridith’s clutch of 13 eggs all hatched healthy, including the gold Chiroth, who impressed to Eloise, and the bronze Panth, who impressed to O’ri. Of more importance was the impression of women to brown and blue dragons in addition to the small green fighters. When Fort Weyr should have been drawing closer together to fight against thread Deinah and the new weyrlings found that the leadership at Fort was ostracising them further.
The weyrlings continued to complete their weyrlinghood, and Deinah was told Iridith could no longer afford to dally with her brown mate.
The Founding of Sirocco (Turn 510, month 1 - month 4)
The subsequent rising of Iridith the bronze Salizeth force caught her. This was the final straw for Deinah and Iridith, who, late in the first month, rallied what supporters they had among the weyrfolk and riders at Fort and fled into the night. Official founding date: Month 1, day 30
Celestial Clutch (Turn 510, month 4 - month 6)
Iridith's clutch by Salizeth was larger than any she had borne, totaling 20 eggs. Sirocco scrambled to find candidates, allowing any and all who wanted to stand an opportunity for the clutch, and even going so far as to poach potential candidates using unauthorized Searches in the North.
The eggs began to hatch on the twenty sixth day of the sixth month (510.06.26). Born of a fraught union some of the resultant hatchlings proved to be challenging for their riders to deal with. While no candidates died during the events there were a number of maulings, including a particularly severe one by the newly hatched Gold Eriseth on her rider, Ilemin. The tiny green Phobeth had to be helped from her egg by her eventual rider, Kythe, and one of the eggs, gone silent after the touching, did not hatch at all.
Bronze Posideth made history by impressing Iris, a young girl, causing uproar among the watchers and further uproar in the North. Fort Weyr took this as an opportunity to further highlight the aberrations that Sirocco bred and encouraged and for a time sentiment in the North soured toward them for bucking tradition.
Deity Clutch (Turn 510, month 5 - month 10)
Gold Chiroth was caught by bronze Vath on the twenty first day of the fifth month (510.05.21). Her first clutch was small, as was to be expected, and hatched on the tenth day of the tenth month. The hatching produced no substantial injury and although two browns impressed to women candidates the tiny bronze selected a man as his rider. The North took little notice of the events.
Sirocco Under Fire (Turn 510, month 12 - Present)
On the 19th day of Month 12 of turn 510 there was a sandstorm at Sirocco. It hit in the afternoon, after lunch and before supper, and during that time Khulai set fire to the top of the mesa and Osha sabotaged the waterlift. Imojen was hurt in the aftermath of the waterlift collapsing, and a distraught Osha, who hadn’t expected anyone to be hurt, dropped her guard (and her accent) long enough to raise Imojen and Sarai’s suspicions.
Unfortunately Imojen was lead away to the healers, with Sarai enlisted to help, before they could ask the real questions. When Imojen was released from the infirmary (510.12.26) she and Sarai returned to the hallway to try and figure out what had gone wrong. Not being smiths they had little luck there, but they did find a bag of tools with a letter, half written, to a family in Fort. There was no name attached to it but Imojen still had her suspicions. She did her best to keep an eye on Osha, and keep her suspicions between herself, the weyrwoman, and Sarai in the hopes of avoiding a witch hunt. Try though they might, Imojen and Sarai haven't found any real evidence to hit Osha with by 511.01.15 and the meeting on the mesa summit.
No saboteurs came forward to be identified and the weyr resumed daily life, although with an added dose of healthy suspicion. Things stayed quiet until the end of the forth month, when the egg heavy wher Erenvesk was trapped in the Sirocco mines courtesy of an explosion engineered by Leymok, an agent of Fort. Although Erenvesk and her clutch were saved, her handler Erenveret was injured, and seven miners lost their lives. The Harper Daffid, at Sirocco in the guise of the drudge Neb, identified Leymok as the saboteur however was under instructions from the Harper Hall to collect information only and not interfere in what was a dispute between the weyrs. Sirocco has found evidence of sabotage in the black powder on stones around the mine, but have not identified a primary suspect.
During the uproar involved in the mine collapse Wingsecond Imojen confronted Osha about her roll in the waterlift collapse. Osha confessed, but was allowed to stay on at Sirocco when Master Gladis interceded on her behalf.
Erenvesk clutched successfully mid month five, and her eggs were distributed to the hopeful candidates. They now tend for the eggs, while waiting for them to hatch.

Saboteurs discovered and allies made (Turn 511, month 6 - Turn 511, month 12)
The successful hatching of Erenvesk’s clutch hatched successfully and the wherlings settled into their routine.
Leymok and Orra were discovered in possession of stolen maps of the Sirocco mines, and accused of and tried for the destruction of the Sirocco gold mines and the deaths of seven men. Orra received pardon from the weyrwoman Deinah however Leymok was branded and sentenced to banishment from the weyr. He did not stay away long, and returned to the weyr to be taken in in secret by Orra.
The greenrider Kleos was appointed Weyrleader in advance of Iridith’s upcoming flight, yet another thumb to the nose of tradition that the Northern weyrs upheld. There was minimal pushback from the Siroccans, however many in the North were scandalized by this continued upheaval of the way things were and should be.
Shortly after High Reaches Weyr sent a delegation to Sirocco consisting of a small wing of fighting-fit dragons in the hopes that one of their dragons might fly Iridith and to improve relations with the upstart weyr of the south. It was Sirocco’s own bronze Bru who flew Iridith when the time came however, and shortly after her perished in threadfall.
The clutch was laid, fifteen eggs in all, and the weyrfolk faced the new turn with the knowledge that with every clutch on Siroccan sand, and with another queen close to maturity, their future was becoming more and more secure.

Brewing Storm Hatching; A Surprise Indeed (Turn 512, month 1)
The Hatching was a wild one. Starting at the apex of a terrible desert storm, the hatching was chaotic to say the least. Leymok and Orra had arranged a secret meeting with Lady Lhana of Stormhaven to receive passage and possibly a home as any young hold needs holders to work it. Unfortunately for them, the hatchlings broke into the stands and nearly half of the dragons impressed to members of the audience, leaving many candidates on the sands.
Kelner and Ramses were both injured and failed to impress, but Leymok impressed to a green dragon, Holdesses Sapphire and Noralell both impressed as well as a visiting holder Linora. Despite the chaos of the hatching, Weyrwoman Deinah and Weyrleader Kleos met with Orra, who was well along with child and interrogated Leymok as best they could. The truth of Leymok's actions was revealed, and Fort's blackmail plot against the haggard young man was decided as truth. The weyr acquitted Leymok and Orra, promising to keep them safe and do what they could to bring Fort Weyr to justice.
The Conclave of 512 (month 12)
The turnly meeting of Pern's great minds was monumental for many. With Pern suffering under Thread and Sirocco's claims of the atrocities committed by Fort as well as the obvious success of living in the Southern continent, the Conclave ended on a surprisingly positive note. Despite the positive notes that Fort Weyr promised to punush the offending riders of their and the promise of happier draongrider transfers there was a smalls adness that befell Pern.
It was decided that Igen Weyr was to be abandoned, it's aging and experienced dragons to be scattered to the weyrs most in need - Fort, Telgar and Sirocco, now that the newest Southern Weyr was given autonomy and legitimacy. A small contingent of hand-picked riders, weyrfolk and crafters have all been chosen to fly south to make certain Sirocco maintains a path for what is best for the survival of Pern.

Aftermath of the Conclave (Turn 513, month 01)
Despite the success of the Conclave in regards to Sirocco Weyr & Opal Hold's legitiamacy, the Holders in the South are divided. Unfortunately a rift has begun forming between not only the holders in the south but between them and Sirocco Weyr as well. Holder Athan was the only invited southern Holder to the Conclave as the guest of honor of Lord Egremer of High Reaches Hold and the other Southern "Lords" are distressed.
Furious that they were not involved or requested at the Conclave, Lhana & Khadine have viewed this as a personal slight against themselves. Both Lady Holders are too economically minded to cease their trade to and from the weyr, but it is obvious that what "gifts" and tithes they were bestowing upon the weyr have lessened a great deal. Lhana is claiming that due to their need to grow as a hold, Sirocco cannot search the seahold at this time. Khadine has yet to make any formal announcements regarding searching, but any rider that is seen near the open-air hold or the trade caravans is met with quiet disdain.
The Northern Contingent Arrives
Even before Junior Weyrwoman Satya of Gold Rikeleth and the various other northern riders that joined them had officially transfered to Sirocco tensions were high. Already many within the weyr were as divided as the Southern Lords. Iridith has not risen for almost a full turn, and her health continues to falter. Many claim that it will be a good thing to have another laying gold within the weyr, especially when she comes with a life-long weyrwoman. Others in the weyr are anxious or downright angry that the north would place such a traditionalist as Satya and her followers in their midst and many suspect a possible pawn. Even the North is tense regarding the transfer of a junior weyrwoman, but if they had to give up one of their own, at least it was Satya for she was the easy choice.
The Aves Hatching
Golden Chiroth's second clutch of 12 eggs hatched, again with considerable mailings and chaos. Again the children of Iridith's line surprised all when the big bronze Phasianth impressed to the second female bronzerider in Pernese history, Igraine of Ruatha hold. Again, many women were chosen by blues, but in the wake of such a surprising impression as a bronze to another woman many of the transferred Northern Riders were surprised. How could such a thing be happening?
The Weyr Council Meeting (Turn 513, month 05)
Weyrleader Kleos and Weyrwoman Deinah had quite a lot to share. With the addition of so many Northern Riders to bolster Sirocco's ranks, major changes were made to the Wing styles, sizes and flight patterns. Many new promotions were made as higher ranking positions made themselves available. The major event mentioned at this specific council meeting was the decision to communicate with emesarries from the Jungle Clans in hopes to negotiate some sort of agreement between them and the Weyr.
Adventerous Wher Hatching (Turn 513, month 06)
Erenvesk's most recent batch of eggs, so thoughtfully handed out hatched 4 beautiful new whers. The small wherlets are full of life and energy and are bound to give their handlers a run for their marks!
Metal Dragon Clutch & Hatching & A New Weyrwoman (Turn 513, month 07-09)
Rikeleth's first Siroccan clutch produced 32 gorgeous eggs, the largest clutch to grace Sirocco's sands. Miraculously, all of the eggs hatched with no duds and every dragonette impressed, only two to the stands. In the north, perhaps this may have gone differently, the excitement ending at such good luck, but Rikeleth's clutch produced non-traditional impressions, the first dragon other than Iridith's line to do so.
Among most surprising of the non-traditional impressions were brown Torith to Khini, brown Isaroth to Aleka (now A'lek), bronze Margoth to Jassara and golden Arumth to Kelner (now K'nel). Satya's investigation into the alternative impressions has failed to produce any substantial reasoning or cause for the impressions. Eriseth, who transferred north has only produced a few non-traditional impressions in blues and greens.
At the hatching feast Satya revealed that Deinah had been grooming her for stepping into the Senior Weyrwoman position. It is clear that Deinah chose Satya for her expierence and expertise, not due to the fact that her dragon was the first to rise after Iridith failed to.
Jungle Delegation & Threadfighting Ruling (Turn 513, month 10)
For many months the weyr had jungle visitors as representatives of the jungle holdless to discuss options for trade and protection with the weyr. Unfortunately, it took the weyr months to decide on a verdict, however, the delegation was succesfull. The weyrcouncil deemed the jungle holdless and their permenent home lands as holds worthy of protection if proper tithing could be maintained.
Satya, along with Kleos and a few others on the weyr council have decided to try to support The Daghar's claim to hold, as the clan's records are robust, and their lineage direct to holders. Under the charter, anyone is allowed to hold if they can, and the weyr intents to make it that way. It is to be seen if they will vie for the proper hold status for the other clans, however the weyr will protect their lands and families nonetheless.

A Grub's Life
At the end of 513 due to Satya's advanced pregnancy, the northern council of weyrleaders & elders decided to relocate their end of Turn Conclave to Sirocco. It was a busy time for the weyr and they barely sustained the influx of added personnel.
Overall, despite the unorthodox addition of a male goldrider (K'nel of Gold Arumth) to the weyr, the proceedings went smoothly. All save for the shocking revelation of the lineage for Stormhaven. In the wake of The Jungle Hold and the Daghar's legitimacy, Lhana approached the council with the claim that her two eldest children were direct grandchildren of the Tillek's Lord holder, and therefore legitimate in their ability to hold. This came as a major shock to many and derailed some civility in the conclave, but overall it passed without further incident.
In addition to the council's other discussion, The Grubs project is presented to Pern's Lords and southern Holders by Weyrleader Kleos. Kleos holds extensive papers which outline the drawbacks discovered in the initial growth of plants in seeded areas but also the protective effects the grubs have against the Thread. It was left to the Lords and Holders to decide if they wish to test the grubs in their own soils; if they do Sirocco Weyr shall be glad to assist them with transport to meet representatives of the Daghar, who will help them to gather specimens.
The Jungle Holder
By the sixth month the Daghar submitted their formal nomination for Lord of Southern Jungle Hold (aka The Jungle Hold). Ilinar has got his name down in ink signed off by a majority vote, and the papers back up his right to claim under the charter, and he has the willingness to travel around and meet whoever might want to meet him now that the vote was official.
Additionally, Ilinar sent letters around to some of Pern's seaholds seeking trade agreements. The Daghar have no intent of trading with Khadine any longer after relations soured, and Stormhaven seems to be taking up much of the stalks for agreements, however, there is still a major void in the Southern Traders as Sirocco Hold looks for a new Lord & Khadine returns to northern and safer lands.
